Halloween and Halloweekend can involve a LOT of makeup on our faces. Not only just the makeup but the candy and alcohol can make our skin very unhappy with us. Now is not the time to be lazy with your skincare! There is nothing worse than your skin feeling yucky after wearing a lot of makeup. Here is a fool-proof halloween skincare routine that will remove all that makeup and help your skin glow!
Step 1: Double cleanse - Double cleansing is so important to remove makeup and sunscreen. (I have a full article all about makeup removal on my blog as well). Basically all you need is your favorite cleansing balm or oil, and your favorite face cleanser. Use the balm first to help break down the makeup then go in with your cleanser to make sure it is all off! This will help to better remove all that costume makeup.
What I’m using: Farmacy Green Clean Makeup Removing Cleansing Balm & Youth To The People Superfood Antioxidant Cleanser
Step 2: Exfoliate- The Paula’s Choice liquid exfoliant is an easy, sensitive and safe way to start exfoliating. The highlight of this product is that it clears and minimizes enlarged pores which is exactly what you want for making sure you won’t break out.
Step 3: Eye cream - Many people choose to skip this step but if you struggle with dark circles like myself, I like to use eye cream. To try to help with dark circles or fine lines an eye cream here will be great. If you have dry skin it might be good to pick up an eye cream for hydration.
What I’m Using: Kiehl’s Powerful-Strength Dark Circle Reducing Vitamin C Eye Serum.
Step 4: Serum - There are so many different kinds of serums on the market. This is the step to target your specific skincare needs. If your concern is dryness, then you will want a hydrating serum. I am currently using The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% serum. I want to target texture on my forehead and prevent breakouts and this serum is great and has so many skin benefits. It is great for acne, rosacea, fine lines, dark spots you name it. It does take a few weeks to show results though. When I first started I didn’t understand what the “hype” was about but now that I have stuck with it, I am starting to see some great results.
Step 5: Moisturize - Even if you have oily skin, moisturizer is really so important. Around this time of the year, especially with the change in temperature, your skin needs hydration!
What I’m using: Youth To The People Adaptogen Moisture Cream
Glow the extra mile: The next day, I love to use a good retexturizing mask to get my skin back in shape. It just makes my skin feel renewed and refreshed.
What I’m using: Origins Original Skin Retexturizing Mask with Rose Clay.
Hopefully this routine helps your skin after a fun weekend of wearing awesome costume makeup. Stay safe and Happy Halloween!
Love always,
K
