Makeup Removal 101

Removing my makeup before bed is something that I always have to do. Even if I am exhausted and can’t stand, I will make sure my makeup gets off my face. I believe so strongly in this and how important it is to not sleep with makeup on as it can clog your pores. 

Previously, I was using the Neutrogena makeup remover wipes until I watched multiple Youtube videos on how important it is to double cleanse. Double cleansing is when you first use an oil based cleanser that breaks down makeup and helps to remove dirt and oils from your skin. Then followed by a water based cleanser to treat your own skin type and concerns. 

I always was skeptical of makeup remover balms and oils because I never had a great experience with them. It is known that makeup remover wipes aren’t very successful in removing all your makeup and can leave your pores clogged even if you cleanse after. I received a sample of the Drunk Elephant Slaai Makeup-Melting Butter Cleanser and wanted to try it out because I heard amazing things. This cleansing balm is an oil that turns to milk when mixed with water. It is safe to use around the eye area and is free of PEGs and essential oils. It helps to remove makeup, sunscreen, dirt and even water-resistant products. This might be one of my favorite products from Drunk Elephant. When used properly, it removes all of my makeup and leaves my face feeling so soft. It also comes with a “Bamboo Booster exfoliant” which you can add into your makeup to exfoliate your skin. I like to do this once a week. It does not feel abrasive and is super gentle on your skin. After using this cleanser twice, I fell in love and ordered the full size from Sephora. 

How to use: 

1. Take a scoop of the Slaai Makeup-Melting Butter cleanser and gently apply it to dry skin with dry fingertips all over your face. You can even remove eye makeup with this. 

2. Add water to your face to activate the balm. Make sure to rinse thoroughly. 

3. Use your normal cleanser. My go-to cleanser is the Langine Moisturizing Cream Cleanser. 

You will notice a difference of how much cleaner your skin feels and looks! This method definitely changed my skin for the better and this makeup balm is worth the price. Leave me a comment down below and let me know how you remove your makeup.
