The Importance of Skincare - My Holy Grails

I love all things makeup. Watching youtube videos, strolling through Sephora, doing my own or my friends makeup, anything involving me getting to talk about it. People always ask me “how can you get your skin to look so clear” or “how does your foundation look so natural” My response is always: SKINCARE! Here's some background about how I became so interested in taking care of my skin: For my senior prom, I had to find the perfect place to get my makeup done. Since I watched so many videos and knew all about different brands, I needed a reliable place that can do what I desired. After much research I decided to make a trial appointment at Ulta. It had all the brands and tools that I trusted. When the Ulta makeup artist started doing my foundation she told me how dry and flaky my skin was and that the makeup wasn’t going to look at the best. I genuinely never even noticed that I had dry skin. She recommended some products to start using because what I was using then was just drying out my skin even more! After a month or so of using these new products, I went back to get my makeup done on prom day. I could see a huge difference in my skin from the trial to then and that's when I realized how important skin care really is. Here are some tips and products that I use to keep my skin hydrated and healthy.

Cleanser - Laneige Moisturizing Cream Cleanser ($23) is a foamy face cleanser that buffs away impurities, moisturizes, and leaves skin hydrated long after cleansing. Some cleansers can strip away the skin's natural oils and leave your skin dry and flaky. I use this morning and night and love how it doesn’t strip my skin but leaves it feeling hydrated.

Toner - Laneige Cream Skin Toner and Moisturizer ($33). I only use toner at night and especially after a day of wearing makeup to further cleanse the skin. I really like this toner because it also has moisturizer in it which helps keep the skin hydrated while giving it a deep clean. I recently purchased the Glow Recipe Watermelon Pore Tight Toner which I will be reviewing soon!

Moisturizer - Moisturizer is key to flawless skin. A good moisturizer can change your skin completely. My holy grail is the Tatcha Water Cream ($68). This is the light, non greasy, and the most hydrating moisturizer I’ve used and it is totally worth the price.

Face mask - My holy grail face mask is the Fresh Rose Face Mask ($25). I usually do this face mask every Sunday and it is instantly hydrating and soothing. It feels great after a weekend of wearing heavy makeup especially in the winter. If you have dry or dull skin, this mask is for you!

Sleep mask - Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask ($48). The hype around this product is real. Whenever I feel like my skin needs a boost I put this on before bed and it is super hydrating and gives my skin the kick that it needs. I also always do this on Thursday nights before the weekend and it makes my self-tanner and makeup look amazing!

Face oils- Face oils are great for dry skin. It is an added layer of moisture that can really help dry skin. The Mario Badescu Rose Hips Nourishing Oil ($22) helps to revive and smooth dry skin and is perfect for makeup prep.

Serums - The Fresh Vitamin Nectar Face Serum ($28) has really changed my skin. Ever since I started using it I have noticed that my skin looks super hydrated and glowing. You can use it morning and night and it really adds that extra glow to your skin.

Eye Cream - I have very dark undereyes. It's genetic so there isn't much I can do about them. I still try out many different eye creams hoping that a miracle will come. I have been using the Sunday Riley C.E.O 15% Vitamin C Brightening Serum ($85) under my eyes. I found that Vitamin C in the undereye area helps my darkeness the most. I got this product as a sample in the Allure Beauty Box but once I run out I am looking to try a different one.

Love always,
