DIY Beer Cake

Looking for a fun and creative 21st birthday gift? Making a beer cake is such a cute and thoughtful gift! Here is a step by step guide on how to make one to celebrate your loved ones birthday.

What you will need:

  • Beer/drink of choice. I recommend getting a 24 pack. You will have a few extras but you might need them.

  • 3 cardboard circles - 3”, 6” and 9” in diameter

  • 1 deep dish round pizza pan - aim for 9’’ in diameter

  • Hot glue gun & glue

  • Ribbon and decorations of your choice

  • Numbers of the age the person is turning (ex: 2 and 1)

Where to find materials:

I found all materials I needed at Michael’s and Target (for the beer)

Steps:

  1. Glue the 9” cardboard circle into the deep dish pan

  2. Place the beer cans inside the pan around the circumference. Fill up the middle with beers as well to support the middle layer

  3. One by one, remove the beer can and line the bottom with hot glue and place it back in the desired location. Do this for each can in the pan.

  4. Now that the bottom layer is set, grab the 6” cardboard circle and place it in the middle of the bottom layer. I added a little hot glue to the cans to make sure the layer didn’t slide off.

  5. Repeat step 3 for each can on this layer.

  6. Grab the 3” cardboard circle now for the top layer.

  7. Repeat step 3 for the top layer. For the top layer I did for my boyfriend's 21st birthday, I used bottles of beer because that was his favorite kind. You can use cans for this though too.

  8. Decorating time! You can get creative and decorate anyway you want to but here is what I did: Take ribbon and wrap it around the cardboard layers. I hot glued it to the cardboard and pan so it wouldn’t fall off.

  9. I used curly ribbon for the top layer to fill in the gaps that the bottles left. Be careful when decorating though because I accidentally punctured two of the cans during this step and trust me it wasn’t fun to have to restart.

  10. Take silver tinsel pipe cleaners and wrap around the neck of the bottles for decoration.

  11. I hot glued the tinsel pipe cleaners to the 2 and 1 and wrapped it around the middle beer bottle.

  12. Lastly, I just printed out some logos from his favorite sports team to glue onto the ribbon on the pan.

There you have it! Your beer cake. This is so fun to make and is such a nice gift for a birthday celebration. Enjoy!

Love always,

K
