What to Pack for COLLEGE?

Ah what I would do to be back to Freshman year move-in day. Being an only child, it was hard for me to pack for college. I had no clue what to bring, what I was going to need, what I wasn’t going to need and things I couldn’t forget. With that being said I severely overpacked! I’m here to help you out and make sure that you bring only what you need.
Clothes
I know, I know, us girls always need a lot of clothes. When it comes to college packing every year I say to myself “I’m not going to bring a lot of clothes this year, only what I need” and I end up bringing 3 bins of sweatshirts. I thought that I would need items like “hanging out shirts” but here is the reality: there is no time for that. If you need casual tank tops or plain tee shirts I highly recommend the store Primark. You can get basic tees for about $4. It is awesome. Personally, I don’t usually dress up for class so I make sure I bring a lot of sweatshirts and leggings since that is my usual “going to class chic.” You definitely will need your going out clothes (jeans, crop tops). A big thing in college is sharing! If you run out of tops to wear, no worries! Ask a roommate or a friend if you can borrow a top that you liked. This is a major part of college girl culture. Sharing is caring!
Toiletries
Bring your basics! Toothpaste, deodorant, toothbrush, anything you would bring when you go on vacation. Don’t worry about bringing 5 bottles of mouthwash because every campus has an on campus store where they sell all the basics. A thing that I worried about was that if I ran out of something, I wouldn't be able to get it! Between Amazon, school bookstores and off campus stores, you will be totally fine.
Decor
Decorating your Freshman dorm room is a blast! If your school allows it, stick on wallpaper really helps brighten up your room and makes it feel more like home. You can find all different kinds of wallpaper on Amazon. For bedding, I got all of mine at Dormify they have the cutest things! You are going to need a mattress topper to put on your mattress to make it comfortable and cozy. I got mine off Amazon as well (you can see a pattern here). I would recommend not to go crazy with “nick nacks.” They just take up the space that you don’t even have. Most likely your first year room will be on the small side so you don’t want to clutter it up with a giant wood block that says “xoxo” on it (guilty!).
Misc.
Command hooks are your best friend in college dorms. These are great for hanging up posters and pictures without ripping off part of the wall when taking it down. These also help save space for jackets, robes or any bigger clothing items that might take up too much space in the closet. A safe that locks to the bed frame is the best option you could get. If you have any valuables you should definitely bring a safe to put them in. Once again, from Amazon. Lastly, you need a fan!! Even if your room has AC, I recommend bringing a little fan just to circulate the air and make it feel cooler in your new small space.
