Quarantine 15? Not in this house! In the beginning of March, I truly didn’t know how I was going to maintain my weight and stay physically and mentally healthy without going to the gym. For me, exercise is a huge part of how I stay mentally well. I don’t have a lot of gym equipment at home so I had to find different ways to increase my endorphins! Here are some ways to stay fit at home!
Go for a walk.
I love walking. Even when the gym was open walking on the treadmill or on an indoor track was the way I warmed up. This really helps me feel mentally better. If I am feeling anxious or upset, I’ll just go on a walk to clear my head. Walking has not only mental benefits but physical as well. My morning walk usually burns about 200 calories which is a great start to the day!
Ride a bike.
They say that no matter how long you haven't ridden a bike, you never forget how to. Since a lot of the streets are pretty empty why not go for a bike ride? Many bike paths are also open now too. It’s a little different than a SoulCycle class but a ride through the great outdoors...You can’t go wrong!
Youtube
Youtube has videos on anything that you need. If you want to do kickboxing, yoga or even HIIT, there is a video on Youtube for it. I have recently been doing Pamela Reif’s workouts and I love it! She has such good variety videos for all parts of your body including cardio. One of my favorites is the “Happy Dance Workout” so much fun!
Utilize your gym membership
Some gyms have been posting online workout classes or going on Instagram live to bring us workout classes at home. Be sure to look up your gym to see what they are offering online so you can follow along at home!
Get creative!
If you have a set of stairs in your house, use it as a stairmaster! Need weights? Use some textbooks or water bottles. Even just running back and forth in your yard. As long as you are moving, it is better than just sitting on the couch.
Love always,
K
